Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to Year 4 where we take one step further into Key Stage 2. 4P is taught by Miss Yates (MTWT) and Mrs Malone (F) and 4S is taught by Mrs Mitchell (TWTF) and Miss Webster (M). In addition, it is wonderful to be supported by Mrs Dobson, Mrs Pickles and Mrs McNicholas.  Together we will ensure that all children reach their full potential through encouragement and the supporting of their individual learning needs.

Our curriculum begins with: ‘The Great Outdoors’. The children explore our amazing world by learning about settlements, the artwork of David Hockney and experience creating their own masterpieces. They also explore the grounds of our school to find key features of our local geography. Their learning then moves on to explore the wider world and specifically South America.

The Spring term theme is: ‘Scavengers and Settlers’. In this term the children will learn all about the changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will compare this directly to the achievements of Ancient Egypt. They will explore the everyday lives of people and their rulers and also get a clearer idea of how we can find out about them.

During the Summer term, the children will be ‘Making Waves’. In this term the children will learn about the key aspects of rivers and how we identify them on a map. They will be identifying how sounds are made and finding patterns between the volume of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it.
